圖右的大鬍子是我的大老闆.(圖左不是我啦,是May,簡稱"我妹妹")
話說大老闆是當初interview我進書院教書的人.也是一手把TESOL major成立的人.而他也是很"勇敢"的把TESOL放給我去做的人.他是個Dr.,專攻英語教學,education的Dr.,也是一個頭腦清楚,思路清晰,聰明"絕頂"的人.跟他共事這幾年來,我從他身上學了很多很多,無論是學術上,或屬靈上.
為什麼會說到他呢?因為啊,去年不知何時,在他去接校長一職前.他給了我一個proposal給我看.問我有沒有興趣.唉呀呀,我這個人就是什麼都好,尤其是我沒碰過的東西.他非常欣慰之虞,馬上非常有效率的把proposal的電子檔寄給我.咦,意思是要我開始去做?!!!!
拖來拖去,躲來躲去.前幾週終於被他逮到.問起了這件事的進度.看來,這燙手山芋我是得好好握在手中,仔細斟酌,趕快要將它生出來啦!!
說了半天,到底是什麼?!哎呀,就是這個啦...

◎ The Facts 源起
The main professional organization for English teachers in Taiwan is the English Teacher’s Association of the Republic of China (ETA-ROC). This organization sponsors a yearly conference on English Language Teaching and publishes a newsletter, but beyond this it does not offer much in terms of professional development and of course it does not address the issue of what it means to be a Christian English teacher. We now have Christian graduates of both our undergraduate English Language Teaching and our joint MA TESOL program with Azusa Pacific University who have entered the workforce. We believe that these teachers need professional and spiritual support and We
would like to begin to address that need by forming a new professional organization for Christian English Teachers that would have its home base at Christ’s College.
中華民國英語文教師學會(以下稱ETA-ROC)為台灣一主要為英語教師所成立之專業機構.ETA-ROC舉辦年度英語教學研討會並定期發行專刊.但除此之外,ETA-ROC並沒有提供太多專業方面的進修,且想當然爾,ETA-ROC也不會在“身為基督徒英語文教師的使命”此議題上有所著墨.
基督書院自成立英語教學主修以來,無論是在大學部的英語教學主修亦或是與美國加州姊妹校Azusa Pacific University所合作的英語教學碩士課程,經過這些年的努力,許多相關主修的基督徒學生陸續畢業,並投入教學的行列.我們深信,這些投入教學職場的老師們,需要在專業與屬靈上的支持.我們也期盼能重視並開始以基督書院為基地,成立一個陪伴基督徒英語文教師專業與屬靈成長的新學會—Christian English Teacher Association (C.E.T.A.)基督徒英語文教師學會
◎ Goals of this organization 目標
· Create and maintain a membership database and publish an annual membership directory, which allows Christian English teachers to identify each other so that they can support each other.
建立並保存會友資料,發行年度會員通訊錄.以祈基督徒英語文教師能有更多的連結與交流,且在主裡互相扶持.
· Provide a resource center, where members can come for professional and spiritual advice and support.
成立專業資源中心,提供會員查詢專業相關資料並屬靈上的教導與支持.
· Have an annual professional conference and spiritual retreat at which teachers could come together for encouragement (by invited speakers) and could share their ideas about what it means to be Christian English teachers with each other.
舉辦年度英語文教學教師專業研討會暨退修會. 給予教師一段時間聚集, 除了會中邀請講員與大家分享,也藉此機會彼此鼓勵和彼此分享身為基督徒英語文教師的心得.
· Publish a newsletter or a professional journal.
發行會訊或專業刊物
· Sponsor programs like the Church English Teaching Program.
支援特殊活動,例如教會之英語教學課程.
